topic of the day
might just get slapped for writting this up...
not too sure whether i heard this first or its just a random thought that has been stuck in my head... but here it goes...
if flowers are meant to represent the love that a guy has for the girl(most cases in relationships)... your either either gonna imply that the love is eventually gonna fade and die(real flowers)... or its just fake to start of with(fake flowers)?
take the example of roses during valentines day... a day that florist definitely make heaps of money regardless of whether the global economic crisis is hitting its peak... individuals pay heaps of money... to buy roses that are way too overpriced and ones that might not even be that nice on that day, either too old or too young...
so if flowers are meant to represent the love that one has for another... which way should he go? the one that last forever but is fake, or real ones that will die out in a week or 2...
some may argue that they keep the flowers even after 2 weeks after they die and dry them up and stuff... but whats the percentage of people who actually do that...?
a friend of mine did... however come up with 2 rather interesting... flower tips for valentines day(where a dozen of roses is usually bought):
-get 11 real roses and 1 fake one... and tell her " ill love you till the last rose die"
-get 11 roses of the same colour and 1 of another colour... and tell her "that rose is a standout... just like you"

Dude, I love your header! Are those macaroons from Laduree or Yauatcha?
Or is that photo even yours?
Anyways! My 2 cents on the whole flower issue:
I think that generally, people are overthinking the whole meaning behind flower-giving and rose giving. Because it's been this thing you do for the girl from centuries ago, and I think because it's so natural (you know, from the ground) and pretty, it also just never used to be expensive. Just something you pluck from the gardens. (until they banned that) And it shows you're thinking about the person. Simple as that. So I guess it's just thoughtful.
None of that forever nonsense.
But I'm sure other girls don't really see that meaning and somehow buy into that whole Hallmark/florist/big bouquet crap.
Hi btw. :)
hey mae...
yeah.. the photo is mine, and the macaroons are from laduree...
none of that forever nonsense? but thats the thing though, thats what everyone thinks these days...
i think it's shallow in the 'I give a beautiful flower to the beautiful lady' sort of thing.
And the rose gimmicks at the end are just so corny they might work!
Philosophically speaking though, maybe it's a metaphor for brief moments of intense joy and beauty (ala life of rose?) or a lifetime of okayness (ala life without a rose)? And even if love is fleeting, it's wonderful for that moment so would you rather not get roses simply because they die?
(look at me i sound profound)
meh... still dont get roses
